I think BUS STOP is my favorite Marilyn Monroe performance. She seems to be less self aware in this film and completely shares the screen with her co-stars. Maybe she had an unintentional ambition to do such a good job on this film because it was a product of her own film production company (MMP) ?

It probably helped that she was working with method actors like Don Murray and Betty Field and she had to be more serious about the material.
