It would still be a few years before Bogey would finally rise to stardom, but he does make quite an impression in here.

Well THE PETRIFIED FOREST led to his being offered a long-term contract at Warners. He had previously been under contract at Universal, then was dropped and headed east to find work. So the part of Duke Mantee, which he had perfected on Broadway, really resurrected his film career. I would bet this role and this movie meant more than any other to Bogart because without it, he never would have had a second chance in Hollywood.

They were a gorgeous couple. Of course Cary Grant and Randolph Scott, who also made two films together, were a gorgeous couple too. I don't think OUR BETTERS was a good choice to explore as a film with the LGBTQ theme. It was an unusual selection for this series.

Ginger had left RKO in 1943 and she was now freelancing but her output slowed considerably. This was an important "A" picture for her from this period. The supporting cast is made up almost entirely of MGM contract players.

It's a heist film as the picture illustrates. Three very different men with very different agendas. Directed by Robert Wise.

The schedule is very good. TCM put up some money to rent two Paramount films and a 20th Century Fox film. It's Wilder's birthday tomorrow. He was born on June 22, 1906.
