The sequel does feel a bit inferior. But Tatum still does a nice job.

Never been a fan of Tatum in anything she did, I'm afraid. But then I never cared very much for her father's acting ability either.

The O'Neals just leave me cold.

Tatum has had a tragic life. Her story sort of affects me. The mother was VERY troubled. The whole family's a trainwreck.

John Ford westerns on TCM

MY DARLING CLEMENTINE with Henry Fonda

THE SEARCHERS with John Wayne

STAGECOACH with Claire Trevor

Love all these movies, especially THE SEARCHERS.

MY DARLING CLEMENTINE would be a very close 2nd.

I love Walter Brennan's portrayal of the outlaw father in MY DARLING CLEMENTINE. He would repeat this performance, to greater effect, in the Republic western BRIMSTONE (1949).

That's another good film from her. Yes, I too wish TCM would play that, it really showed her versatility.

She was cast in A WOMAN'S VENGEANCE fresh off her success as Blanche in the original stage production of Streetcar. As we all know, Vivien Leigh played Blanche in the movie, leaving Ms. Tandy to look for other movie roles.

Looking forward to these, especially DRIVING MISS DAISY.

I concur with the Best Oscars for Tandy and Driving Miss Daisy.  But, I believe Morgan Freeman should have won Best Actor as well. Daniel Day Lewis won for My Left Foot.

Morgan Freeman would have justly deserved an Oscar for DRIVING MISS DAISY, but Daniel Day Lewis was spectacular in MY LEFT FOOT.  Maybe this one should have been a tie?

A tie would have been acceptable.

I don’t have cable at home.  I watch the Sony Movies Channel which comes-in with antenna.  They show lots of classic films.

My only access to TCM is the Sling TV app on my phone, but with recent price increase  from $25 to 35 it will soon be canceled.

I wish I could buy TCM APP directly, similar to how I get HBO through their app ($15).  I don’t need cable subscription

When TCM doesn't show films I want to see I go to the Fox Movie Network, no commercials. They have not bought up all the Fox Studios films so if you are a fan of early Tyrone Power films, Betty Grable, and others, Fox Movie Network is a good choice. I also watch the Movies channel. They show commercials but have a collection close to what TCM shows. They offer a lot of film noir.

There's also Cinemoi. They show Stars of the Silver Screen, which I thoroughly enjoy. They have short commercial breaks.

FXM Retro (formerly called the Fox Movie Channel) airs classic films without commercial interruptions, you are right. However, I think people were not happy that they do not cycle through the Fox library quickly enough. They seem to repeat the same titles ad nauseum before finally adding new ones in two or three months later.

Yes, it's a shame especially since it appears that Fox Movie Channel is owned by Disney. Perhaps they are focused more on their Disney Plus channel to work towards programming on Fox.
