Sorry to disillusion everyone, but TCM did NOT give NBNW the month off. It's smack dab in the lead primetime slot on Eva Marie Saint's day (the 30th).

I knew it was too good to be true! 😄

Well then we should be grateful that it did not get two airings!

I don't THINK that's ever happened for SUTS? Though I can't assert that I've checked the entire schedule for every year! For people who aren't crazy about it or 31 Days, at least one defense I can offer is they're the only two months of the year where there are no repeats.

I think there have been some repeats. It's rare but it does happen.

In this case Eva Marie Saint has a shorter filmography than Cary Grant, so they needed NORTH BY NORTHWEST to help fill up the schedule for her day. If she had not been honored this year, I bet NORTH would have found its way on to the schedule for Grant's day.

The other thing is that NORTH often gets the plum 8 p.m. primetime slot, because the programmers consider it the ultimate classic which of course is debatable.

FXM Retro is airing UNFAITHFULLY YOURS (1948) presently. This is the first time I have seen this film being shown on this channel. I'm glad, because usually once FXM shows a classic film, they tend to air it for months and months. This is my favorite Preston Sturges film. :)

Thanks for letting us know. Sturges' next picture, BASHFUL BLONDE, was also made at Fox.
