MCannady1
I just saw a great British Film Noir I received for Christmas in a boxed set of Film Noirs. The Limping Man was an exciting early 50's (and early appearance by the handsome Lloyd Bridges) FIlm Noir co-starring the lovely Moira Lister. I really loved the settings and the edge of your seat suspense. The Scar was the other film (a mid-40's Film Noir) with the wonderful Paul Henreid and Joan and the beautiful and talented Joan Bennett. I liked this murder mystery too.

THE SCAR is quite good and was featured when Paul Henreid was Star of the Month a few summers ago. It is also known as HOLLOW TRIUMPH. If you like noir, one of the titles I mentioned in a recent post combines noir and prison break drama, rather effectively-- plus it's based on a real-life escape of convicts in eastern Colorado. It's called CANON CITY and is available on Amazon Prime. Highly recommended.

I like the remake, too-- THE RAINS OF RANCHIPUR (with Richard Burton in Ty's role and Lana Turner taking over for Myrna). Fred MacMurray has a supporting role in it. Speaking of Fred, did you have a chance to watch PARDON MY PAST? It was on at an ungodly hour early this morning, but I happened to watch it-- and it was charming. Loved it. TopBilled
Thanks, TB for reminding me about "Never a Dull Moment". I owe you one! Love that Irene Dunne! I ended up watching NEVER A DULL MOMENT this morning. It is quite obvious they are recycling the formula that was perfected in THE EGG AND I, but it works in large part to Dunne's fresh approach. They also loaded the scenes with lots of gags that went off like clockwork, and with Bill Demarest and Andy Devine in supporting roles, plus little Natalie Wood, it's a winner. I'm watching One Mysterious Night, a Boston Black-ie film made in 1944. It has Janis Carter in it who was in a few Columbia noir films like Framed with Glenn Ford. One Mysterious Night also has a very young Dorothy Malone (un-credited). The film is noteworthy as the directorial debut of Budd Boetticher, though he is credited under his real name, Oscar Boetticher, Jr. Yea, Get-TV has a lot of commercials. It did give me enough time to make this post!

Sorry to make your unpaid position be even more stressful, TB! Ha! Well, I was going to suggest to Janet that she go ahead and add them as she sees fit. The reason I do not mention the commercial channels, is obviously because the films are cut and interrupted so much, I don't feel it's the best thing to recommend. Sounds a bit snooty of me to say, no doubt, but I wanted to point people in the direction of finding the classics in all their unadulterated glory. I am not opposed to folks mentioning the commercial channels, if they enjoy watching films that way-- but personally, it is not my cup of tea. I pull up the synopsis on my remote to see how long the film is and how long they play the movie. They usually average about 30 minutes of commercials. Well, it may be more what with those mini info-mercials. Well, as I've told you before, this is when I do my housework. Plenty of time to scrub out the tub, make scones, broil a chicken, mow the lawn, paint the house, and then sit down for a cup of java. Whoops! Forgot to add in a chance to watch the Weather Channel for updates.
