TB, "Time Without Pity" is a superb film. Firstly as you know it is directed by the wonderful, Joseph Losey, of "The Servant" fame and so many others, and besides Redgrave and Todd as inducements it was supposedly written as a play by Emyln Williams and photographed by Freddie Francis. By the way, I don't think I have ever thanked you for keeping me up to date on all the great movies available daily with these posts of yours. I used to make a complete perusal of TV Guide for movies I'd want to see, before there started being so many hundreds of channels to check which could take hours. Now I'm too lazy, but I appreciate being the receiver of your bountiful gift of your most generous time to prepare this daily listing for me and others and would like to thank you most heartedly!

Yes, it cuts through the downtown area. One day I had gotten off the bus and was walking to an appointment when I noticed I was on Losey Blvd. I knew Joseph Losey the director was from Wisconsin but didn't realise till that day he was from LaCrosse, where I was at the time residing. It was kind of exciting actually when I took my phone out and looked him up, and on wiki it says he was from LaCrosse. So I figured this part of town was founded by his family, which I confirmed a week later when I went to the public library.

 

This was around the time I started a thread on these boards called 'I'm Famous and I'm from Wisconsin.'

I totally dig the James Wong Howe cinematography and also love the shop of Kim Novak's with all the Oceanic artifacts.

It's interesting the way this film differs so much from the other Novak-Stewart pairing (in VERTIGO).

 

Howe also did the cinematography for PICNIC.

Despite the fact that it will be almost midnight here by the time it is finished, I have a sneaking suspicion that I will watch THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES from start to finish.  I always tell myself that I should get to bed and not finish watching it.  One time it was well past one a.m. the movie ended and I couldn't turn it off.

I absolutely agree with both of you.  It's one of my favorite films of all time and of course one I have watched so many times

 

I first discovered it late at night back in the late 70's ... man was I happy with the local T.V. offering that night!
