TCM and Other Sources for Classic Film

I have been watching TCM faithfully for the past 10 years, and I have yet to see the movie "Harvey" with Jimmy Stewart.

Have they ever showed it?

I have noticed they always reference it in documentaries, but I haven't seen it and want to badly.  Another film I have been dying to see is "long days journey into night" (i think thats right) with Katherine Hepburn.

Why are there some films that are definitely classic greats that don't get shown.  In the past 4 years I have only seen two showings of "Sunset Blvd" and "Breakfast at Tiffany's"  It's always the same few movies shown over and over.  Don't get me wrong if I love a move, I can watch it over and over and over again.  I would, however, love to see these other films as part of the normal line-up.

Any thoughts....

Harvey was the very first James Stewart movie I saw.  How I managed to never see a James Stewart movie until after he died, I do not know.

I did not see It's A Wonderful life until much later even though it is a Christmas tradition to air it.

Harvey was a movie my family rented the night after James Stewart died.  I fell in love with Stewart, the rabbit Harvey, and everyone in the cast.  If it were to air on television again, I would drop everything I am doing to watch it.

Well get ready to drop everything.  I just received a reminder that Harvey will be shown on 6-15 at 12 am.  Long Days Journey will also be shown in June.!!!!! Maybe TCM does listen when you request certain pictures to be shown.  I have been requesting both of these for  over a year now! :)

Is this a list of who they will be showing on the specific days, because the 3rd they are actually doing a tribute to Mary Astor.  Is this list accurate?

I believe this is a list of evening themes only. Not all of these topics are TCM themes. some of them full under the category "And other sources for classic film" such as Amazon Prime.

Yes. That's right.

I felt we had to go beyond TCM on some days, because the TCM/Turner library is limited and it's not fair to keep ignoring some stars' birthday each year. Plus there are occasional biases in TCM's schedules and programming I wanted to avoid.

Well the 4th is Audrey's birthday and they are showing films of hers during the day (a decent line up for a change). Looks like some days are aligned, and some are not.

The one that's fun is THE DEVIL'S BROTHER-- it has Thelma Todd...who can go wrong with her!

Can't go wrong with Thelma!

Just recently I found out that her ex-hubby was later married to Gloria Vanderbilt.

I read that book about Thelma's rather mysterious death, but had not known this fact or must have forgotten.

I am recording Carefree to watch again in case I can't watch it as it airs as I can never remember the names of the songs  in this film.

I have seen all of the movies TCM is airing at least once.
