Thanks for the recommendation.

You're welcome. I was first exposed to BLOCKADE in film school. One of my professors knew the screenwriter (John Howard Lawson), who was later blacklisted. The film's a bit leftish in its views, but I think it provides an interesting glimpse of the political situation in Europe before WWII. Watch it and let us know what you think..!

I like political movies as long as they are set in the past. Thanks.

Jean Gabin's 112th birthday on Hulu

THE LOWER DEPTHS with Suzy Prim

PEPE LE MOKO with Gabriel Gabrio

REMORQUES with Michele Morgan

FRENCH CANCAN with Maria Felix

It's too bad TCM didn't schedule both the French version of "The Lower Depths", with the Akira Kurosawa version from 1957, also called "The Lower Depths" both adapted from the Maxim Gorky tale. Thanks for the Jean Gabin film update, TB!

Yeah, it's been a while since TCM had a Jean Gabin spotlight.

Paramount Vault has just released the 2003 Japanese animated film "Millennium Actress" for free viewing with no ad interruption.  As some of you know, Paramount has released several old movies for free viewing on this Youtube channel.  While there are many forgettable flicks, some are well worth watching, such as I Married A Monster From Outer Space (1958) , The Miracle Of Morgan's Creek (1944), and others.

Unlike what your notions of Japanese animation may be, "Millennium Actress" is aimed for adults, and it tells the story of an actress who recounts her career through memories, fantasies, and dreams that take us back and forth in time.  You may read more about this release here.

Thanks for reminding us about the Paramount Vault page. But we should point out that not every film on there is without ad interruptions. Recently I watched Bernardo Bertolucci's Italian epic 1900 on the Paramount Vault page, starring Burt Lancaster, and every 20 minutes there were ads. So I think they are starting to insert commercials now, which is a shame.

Vincent Price's 105th birthday on Hulu

THE BARON OF ARIZONA with Ellen Drew

HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL with Richard Long

THE BAT with Agnes Moorehead

Ooooh! Love HOHH!

Too bad they don't show it with the skeletons on wires coming out over the audience anymore at revivals.

"The Bat" is such fun too and better than a normal horror flick due to a great actress like Moorehead being involved. Vincent is so fab! Thanks, TB.

You're welcome, CG. I agree that putting Moorehead in a film with Price was a stroke of genius.
