Now that we have our LGBT section, this is the place to acknowledge the passing of playwright/screenwriter Kevin Elyot, whose work includes My Night with Reg, Clapham Common, and Christopher and His Kind, three major gay-themed stories. My Night with Reg began as a highly acclaimed play. Clapham Common is a harrowing tale (written for British TV, it could never be on U.S. television) about gay bashing in South London; Christopher and His Kind is based on Isherwood's book, which was written to set the record straight about what really happened in Berlin, as opposed to how his stories were depicted in Cabaret.

 

Christopher and His Kind is one of the best gay-themed television programs I've ever seen, and, like Clapham Common,  I don't think it could ever be shown on American television. Here it is on YouTube:
