ElCid
One reason why I prefer old movies is because the director or producer or somebody decided (and enforced) that the soundtrack was secondary to the dialogue. What the characters said was far more important than the music or the special effects noise. In today's movies and TV shows, the music and/or special effects are as loud or louder than the actors. Of course, today's actors do not know anything about diction anyway. They mumble and slur their lines.
