slaytonf
An earlier and, from the looks of it, a much more charming film. This is due mainly to the two principals, Roland Young and Lilian Gish, two actors well well suited for whimsical comedy. They work together well, too. Too bad this was their only pairing. As for tonite's movie, you can be sure that anything with Monty Woolley in it is going to be hammered to within an inch (and in this case, beyond) of its life. I only wasted thirteen minutes on it, and that was to make sure it was a remake. The best thing about the movie was Eric Blore, and they killed off his character first thing. Big mistake. Well, I guess this just goes to show, theres' no movie too modest and diverting, that some Hollywood ego can't get hold of, and, with money, determination, and resources, destroy all its appeal.
