TomJH
Jake, I want to thank you for the wonderful series of photographs that you have been posting on this thread. The images splendidly capture the tight family bonds of elephants, as well as their majesty. The pictures remind me that we should never take their existence on this planet for granted. Thanks for your continuing contribution which has kept the thread alive.

TomJH
That last photo is a lovely one, Jake, with the big bull (what an impressive looking old boy he is, too) ready to protect his family against any body. Love that image.

Love that image. While elephants are mostly a matriarchal society, researchers are learning more and more about how important the Big males are in elephant society (other than mating) and how they communicate with one another. TheGayDivorcee
Thanks very much for this link, GayD. Heartening to see a happy ending for an elephant that who had a sad life. Unfortunately, the article doesn't say what, if anything of significance, will happen to the circus owner who permited the abuse to occur, only that he was found guilty of animal cruelty. Just to update: Wildlife SOS has had court dates for this case, but the other side has not shown up. There's another court date soon, maybe this week. They have asked those interested in the case for prayers for Mohan.

TheGayDivorcee
Tom, a little update on the subject of your original topic, Raju. Apparently he is enjoying splashing water over himself, is almost completely recovered from a shoulder wound, and is consuming loads of his favorite fruit, mangos. What a difference a year (almost) makes.
