newclassicfilmfan1
Just wanted to begin a thread to honor Vic Morrow who we lost 32 years ago on July 23rd. He was terrific in the tv show Combat and in the movie Blackboard Jungle and in quite a few other films and tv guest appearances. He was a great actor, very underappreciated. I don't think he ever gave a bad performance. RIP to a fine actor.

He really was a very good actor that didn't get enough credit. He always played a great bad guy (almost stole 'Roots' with his performance as the slave master, Ames IMO). Hard to believe 'Blackboard Jungle' was his first role. He is missed...
newclassicfilmfan1
I agree - he was terrific in Roots.

newclassicfilmfan1
Yes - a notable Combat episode Vic Morrow directed was "Hills are for Heroes". the camera angles he used back then were very advanced. Terrific actor he was too.
Rick2400
Agreed. Vic Morrow was a very talented actor and we not only lost him too soon, but way too tragically. His daughter as you may know is Jennifer Jason Leigh, who is also a fine talent.
newclassicfilmfan1
Has anyone seen the film Portrait of a Mobster? I see this film is now on youtube. Vic Morrow is great playing the role of Dutch Schultz.
