Ballots are "due"? The logistics escape me.

Obrienmundy takes all the 'ballots' and complies a final result.      There is a cutoff date for this;  If one submits their choices AFTER that cutoff date they will NOT be included in the final results.

How can that simple logic escape you?

These are the movies that stand out from your list. I'm not trying to fill any pre-set quota, but rather just noting the ones I think hold up the best on repeated viewings.  There are others that I've liked but have no inclination to see again:

1927/28
The Crowd
The Racket
Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans
Wings

1928/29
None

1929/30
All Quiet on the Western Front
The Big House

1930/31
The Front Page

1931/32
Five Star Final
Grand Hotel
Shanghai Express

1932/33
42nd Street
I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang
Lady for a Day

1934
Imitation of Life
It Happened One Night
The Thin Man

1935
The Informer

1936
Libeled Lady

Grand Illusion

1939

I wish I'd participated in the '40s poll; I don't know how I managed to miss that, but I enjoyed seeing the results.  Anyway, I will award a vote to each of the following eleven favorites from the list (I was aiming for ten, but just couldn't decide on that one final cut):

Grand Hotel
Little Women
It Happened One Night
The Thin Man
Alice Adams
Libeled Lady
The Awful Truth
Stage Door
Test Pilot
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Ninotchka

Here's my list for what it's worth.  I tried to pick one film from each year, but 1939 was tough, of course!

1929/1930           All Quiet on the Western Front

1930/1931           The Front Page

1931/1932           Shanghai Express

                                Grand Hotel

1932/1933           Lady for a Day

I am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang

1934       The Gay Divorcee

                It Happened One Night

1935       Captain Blood

                Top Hat

1936       Dodsworth

                Mr. Deeds Goes to Town

1937       The Awful Truth

                Lost Horizon

1938       The Adventures of Robin Hood

                Test Pilot

You Can't Take it With You

1939

Gone with the Wind

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Ninotchka

Of Mice and Men

Stagecoach
The Wizard of Oz
Wuthering Heights

I haven't seen many of the late 20s-early 30s films, so I can't make too many "picks" on those.  The very early days of the talkies are not my favorite era of film.

*I have seen "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," but I thought the film was kinda meh.  I didn't see what was so special about it.  I definitely wouldn't place it in my top 5 list for anything-- except for maybe top 5 filibusters on film.

Not sure, since everyone is doing it differently, if we're supposed to go in order by year or overall? I guess I'll list my favorites for each year then put in bold my #1 for that year, does that work?

Well, here goes...

What was the result of this poll anyway?

Good question.   I was going to reply to this 'new' poll (since your post pushed it back on top),  but I'm glad I checked below and found out I already did.    I wouldn't want to give a different listing (which can happen to me with a poll like this).
