Venerable British composer/lyricist Sandy Wilson has died at the age of 90. His most famous show, The Boy Friend, gave Julie Andrews her Broadway debut and Twiggy a starring role in film (directed by Ken Russell) in 1971. Wilson also wrote the highly enjoyable musical Valmouth.

THE BOY FRIEND was my first professional role in a musical and the last time I played a juvenile (thank God!).  I was Tony and couldn't tap dance for beans, so Polly tapped and I whistled (Jolson style). Only 40 years ago!!  RIP Sandy Wilson.
