bhryun
Well folks, we seem to have tapped our resources for the beauties of the 30's and 40's. Shall we try the 50's? I'll open with Joan Collins Elizabeth Taylor
feaito
Undeniably ELIZABETH TAYLOR, one of the most haunting beauties ever. Second runner-up: the regal, delicate and gorgeous GRACE KELLY.
bhryun
Kim Novack posed for some beautiful photos when she was being built up by Columbia.
scsu1975
I'd pick Rhonda Fleming, especially when she could show off her red hair in color films. Rich

kimbo3200
I think Grace Kelly and Deborah Kerr were really beautiful. I also agree with Rhonda Fleming, although I've only seen her in films from the 40's, but she was very beautiful in those films.
brackenhe
It is kind of hard to come up with beauties from the 50's. I always thought Cyd Charisse had a dark beauty as well as Sophia Loren. I know they made movies in the late 40's but were really big stars in the 50's.
vallo13
Lizbeth Scott and Yvonne DeCarlo(prior to "The Munsters")and even Shelly Winters... vallo
richardny4me
Ava Gardner was at her most beautiful in this decade. Think of her in Mogambo or The Barefoot Contessa.
ayresorchids
I'm with you on this one, richardny4me. But when it comes to a woman with a perfect body, I'd say Cyd Charisse (who facially resembles Ava a little bit, I think). > Ava Gardner was at her most beautiful in this decade. > Think of her in Mogambo or The Barefoot Contessa. fssbdgtsue59
Am I out of the 50's when I suggest Kim Novak? I haven't seen her name mentioned at all in any posts lately. Sue
lux0786
Actually, elinorkrieger, Kim was mentioned below, or at least someone named Kim Novack (sic). But, of course, Marilyn Monroe hasn't. I say of course because she seems to get such short shrift around here. She's sleazy, she's not really beautiful (only just attractive, if that), she has no talent, I hate the way she talks blah blah blah ... (She has her fans too, I know) To my eye, she's a smashing beauty.
bhryun
"Undeniably ELIZABETH TAYLOR, one of the most haunting beauties ever. Second runner-up: the regal, delicate and gorgeous GRACE KELLY." Ditto. And I'll add a third, Dorothy Dandridge. BLU
bhryun
Definitely "beauty is in the eye . . . ." Regardless of differing opinions about MM - I really like her - to me she was beautiful. Even before all the "fakeness" - just as Norma Jean, I think she was a beauty. Liz Taylor? To me she's never been beautiful. I've never ever understood the fanfare. Pretty? Maybe, on a good day. She's got good skin. Personally, I think she could very easily get lost in a crowd. Of course, I've always thought that the best thing about Liz Taylor was Richard Burton - but - - to each his own. bhryun
ttoons4, I think that's because compared to the 30s and 40s there were so FEW beautiful women in the 50s. Just my opinion.
bhryun
I was surprised Marilyn Monroe wasnt first on the list. I've always thought she was beautiful, and not a bad actress. Liked her a lot in "The Seven Year Itch" and "Niagara", two very different parts she did quite well. I would also vote for Jean Simmons.
shainablue1
I vot Elizabeth Taylor as the most beautiful, incredibly gorgious. Especially in " A Place In The Sun".
sucker4classics
I have to agree Elizabeth Taylor....My favorite is the movie where she played an Egyptian Princess or Queen. I believe it was a biblically based movie.. I cannot remember the name of the movie, but I can remember that beautiful face

bhryun
I can't believe no one's mentioned Audrey Hepburn or Natalie Wood! They're two of my absolute favorites!! I also love Grace Kelly and Eva Marie Saint. Marilyn Monroe was gorgeous also.
