Swithin
When I started going to dinner parties in London in the mid-1970s, Tom Driberg often came up in the conversation. He was a gay, at times communist, socialist, journalist, Anglo-Catholic, Member of Parliament, and oh -- a famous cottager (and by that I don't mean someone living in a cottage). He sounded like such a fascinating, uniquely English character, that I read his autobiography; and later his biography. I think his life would make a great movie. Just to give you a feeling for him (if you don't know him), read this short piece by Christopher Hitchens. Here's one line from it: "He was one of those modernists who could only have been formed by an observance of tradition: he needed an anchor as much as he wanted a sailor." http://www.lrb.co.uk/v12/n09/christopher-hitchens/reader-he-married-her Here's his Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Driberg Hope you find him interesting -- I think you will!

TopBilled
I totally agree his life would make an interesting movie. I agree-- the idea that he was a double agent, yet living this freewheeling sort of lifestyle, is actually quite interesting.
