roverrocks
A very seriously disturbed film that I will never ever ever watch again and regret watching tonight but I finished it even though I wanted to turn the TV off several times. Polanski was a mentally sick man when he made this. This is not a Halloween film nor should it be shown on Halloween. Disturbed, sick, made me want to take a shower to wash off Polanski's mental degenerative sick desire to even make such a film about such a distraught young woman. joefilmone
A classic psychological horror film and yes portrait of a very disturbed mind- that final chilling fade out is unforgetable.

I believe that final fade out was there to convey that the she had been molested as a child. The picture of that child showed someone full of hate and anger. This would explain why as an adult she was still so disturbed. Interesting that this theme came from Polanski.
joefilmone
Never thought of the child molestation angle but it would explain her twisted fear of sex- and of couse having Deneuve one of the most beautiful and desirable women in cinema play her added to the horror .
