joefilmone
I found "The Legend of Hell House" a bit dull- they were obviously taking the high class approach but I think the story would have used a bit more of 1970's edginess on the other hand "The House on Haunted Hill" actually made me jump- William Castle knew how to produce a good scary movie. markfp2
My favorite is still Robert Wise's THE HAUNTING. Scared the you-know-what out of me the first time I saw it and it still works for me. No fancy effects or goofy looking ghosts. It doesn't need a thing. My second favorite is THE UNIVITED with Ray Milland.

The Overlook Hotel in "The Shining" (1980) is haunted. "Monster House" (2006) is a neat animated film.
