Mysterious Island color,not lost

I read a 20013 issue of Vitpahone news.It was discoverd tha the Czech film an archives ,of the Czech republic, had a complete  color print  of the 1929  Mysterious Island.Members of the eastman house went to that country to check it .They now hope they can get cooperation  from the Czech film Archives to restore this classic .The archive had the color print.If and when this film is  restored,there is a question if t.cm will ever play  it.You see .T.C.M. has been showing  a black and white print,even though u.c.l.a  has a version with a reel of color and tint.T.c.m. has never remastered their old one  with this verison. Hopefully t.c.m. or Time Warners can take consideration  of this better print when it's restored

Just because there's a better print in an archive doesn't mean that it's available to TCM or any channel for that matter. Often archives are simply depositories of the film and have legal restrictions as to what can be done with it.
