slaytonf
What a disaster! Let me get this clear, spence, you want to use a picture of Spencer Tracy for little inset by the side of your posts, right? If I'm right it's called an avatar.
slaytonf
Who made your stupid android mobile tablet? OK, I have looked at my stupid android mobile phone. It's true in the android system, you don't get any of the options a normal computer user would. The best you can do is maybe upload a pic from your device to the site. It won't show up in the body of your post, only show up as a thumbnail that people will have to click on to enlarge. I say maybe because I haven't done it and don't know if it'll work. I think you said you were computer-challenged, so I hope what I say now will not confuse you. On your tablet, you can probably see the TCM site in two versions. One that is adapted for the android system called the mobile version, and one for normal computers called the full version. It is more difficult to use on mobile devices than even the mobile version. Somewhere on the message board page there is the option to switch back and forth from either version. I'll be seeing right now if I can do it and get back to you.

slaytonf
Don't ask me how John Garfield ended up sideways. What I did was go to the TCM Site, switch to the full version, then click on the reply button. You will see at the bottom of the reply field an option to upload a pic. Click on that and choose your file. I have screenshots of what it looks like on my android phone. The toggle button for switching between the versions is at the bottom on the message board screen. SansFin
How do you get a photo next to your name? That is an: avatar. The process to add one to your account is to click on your username at very top of screen, select: "My Settings," select first button under settings which is: "Change My Photo" and then adding desired photo as instructed in box. You will need an image which is approx. two hundred pixels square and is less than 50kB in size. The image can be on your computer or on photo-hosting site.

JPepperDC
there are two ways TCM says you can attach a pic to your profile. The first one, by simply uploading a pic from your computer, does not work. The second option, to enter a URL (website link with your photo), is the only option that works. So you might be thinking "what websites have my photo on them?" Well, if you have a photo on your Facebook page or on a site like LinkedIn, then you have what you need. In my case, I went to my LinkedIn profile, put the cursor over my pic and hit right click. A box opens and you scroll down and click "properties." Another box opens and in the middle of that box shows the website address for your photo (the URL). Double click and copy and paste that URL into box on the TCM website where it says "enter the URL here." And that should work. Good luck!!
slaytonf
Thanks for your response. I did it mostly for others interested in posting a pic, as I, being the retiring type, demur. Looks like you operate in the Microsoft universe. For Apple-freaks, select the pic, at the bottom of the menu click on Copy Image Address for the info to post.
