Have you ever seen a film and you could have sworn it was taken from your life ?

I mean to the point where you get a weird feeling inside. Or you can relate to that character so well you can predict what should happen next. Or maybe it captures a particular moment in your life.

I mean we all have characters we "wish" we could be. I mean the ones that "are" really us.

Well, I usually don't like to tell anybody this, BUT there WAS that one time while I was workin' construction years ago, and when I failed to secure the front of a house we were building with enough nails, and THIS happened to me...

(...yep, it suuure was a good thing neither OSHA nor the city building code inspector was there that day...OR as I refer to it, "The day I swapped my pork pie chapeau for a hard hat"!!!)  ;)

This came to me when TCM showed a clip about boy's town. It takes me to the one scene where Mickey Rooney walks out and the little boy blindly follows him across a busy street with disastrous results. I have an older brother and I might have followed him the same way. Still do to some respects.

Then there is (Gloria 1980 ) . Its about a mobster's ex gf who is protecting a little boy who has something the mob wants.

The boy was not only close to my age but, also close to my race. And while my god mother who took care of me often during the 70's wasn't with the mob, she was beer drinking, snuff dipping , tough as nails woman from the old school. And I'm sure she would have taken care of me the same way as was done in the movie.

Yes, many times.

And in reverse. Several films I saw, I went out and placed myself in similar situations, such as going on trips to Yucatan and pretend I was on Safari, or a jungle explorer, and a Jungle Jim type guy.

I very often feel as if a character would be me under other circumstances. This is most prominent in the movie: Daisies (1966). I would have been Marie if I had not had a significant and unexpected change in my life a few years prior to that age.

There is a television series which captures me most of when I was very young. It is of a delightful and intelligent little girl who is very curious and is very brave about exploring her world and all within it. It is titled: Masha and the Bear and episodes of it are available on YouTube. It is all the more appropriate as I have had the nickname: Masha several different times in my life and each time the name was bestowed upon me by people who did not know that I had been given that nickname previously.

Y'know, I could joke around and say I think that everytime I watch some PORN flick!

But actually, it never happened.  I suppose the closest comes in a 1982 movie called "Purple Haze".  But without the draft thing, or the being a college student aspect.
