LarryDarell2
Sorry because this is not a film question but... I can't seem to find those early cartoons that had likenesses of Humphrey Bogart, Hepburn, etc in them. I remember one where Bogart kept appearing and saying "Brother, can you spare a dime?" One had a likeness of that old character actress who had a loooong face (unattractive). Also would like to find (another) one in particular where a skyscraper was being built to a lively symphonic score. Also all of the old Sniffles the Mouse cartoons. One that was kind if a travelogue of the world (humorous, of course) Another about the modern inventions for the home (1940-ish? 50-ish?) There were so very many and they ran constantly from 1958 through 1966 or so. Can anyone shed some light on these? Red ants having a full out war with the black ants at a picnic? Are they available on dvd ANYWHERE?
slaytonf
Can't say I recognize all the ones you mention, but a number are certainly Warner Brothers Looney Tunes, or Merrie Melodies. The one with Humphrey Bogart is a Bugs Bunny cartoon, certainly made at the time Treasure of the Sierra Madre was released, as it is a parody of what Dobbs says bumming money off people in the movie. The one about modern home conveniences strikes a distant bell in my mind. It seems to me it was a MGM cartoon that had absurd parodies of domestic appliances.
KarmaGirl
The one with Bogart saying "Could you help a fellow American whose down on his luck" is called "8 Ball Bunny" with Bugs Bunny. The character actress is most likely Edna Mae Oliver.
KarmaGirl
The one with Bogart and other likenesses of stars is called "Slick Hare" with Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd.

Toast N' Jam
The ant war: The Fighting 69½th (1941) The skyscraper: Rhapsody in Rivets (1941) Modern house might be "The House of Tomorrow" (1949) or Dog Gone Modern (1939)
LarryDarell2
wow. Thank you everyone. nice responses. I am very grateful. Does anyone know if they (or some of them) are available on any DVDs? I think there is a Merry Melodies dvd - but I didn't recognize any them as ones I was looking for. Another cartoon puzzler that has been bothering me for years and haven't been able to track down: A baby buzzard that his mother(?) thinks he is a chicken hawk and he doesn't want to eat a worm because...." he looks like Frankie Sinatra"
Fedya
A bunch of stars including Bogart show up in Hollywood Steps Out. There's alco a lot of stars in The CooCooNut Grove, but that's from 1936, before Bogart was a star so he isn't parodied.

mickeyfender
Another cartoon puzzler that has been bothering me for years and haven't been able to track down: A baby buzzard that his mother(?) thinks he is a chicken hawk and he doesn't want to eat a worm because...." he looks like Frankie Sinatra" Your puzzler actually involves multiple Warner Bros. cartoons/characters. The baby buzzard was a character known as Beaky. Here's the IMDb list of cartoons he was in: http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0056221/?ref_=fn_ch_ch_2 The little chicken hawk was a completely different character known as Henery, who was also in a number of cartoons: http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0039581/?ref_=fn_ch_ch_2 Finally, the worm who turns into Frank Sinatra was from a one-off cartoon, Quentin Quail (1946): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038865/ Quentin Quail features a "Baby Snooks"-type character, who whines incessantly throughout the cartoon. You should be able to find a number of Beaky Buzzard and Henery Hawk cartoons on the various dvd sets released by Warner Home Video, but I'm not sure whether Quentin Quail has ever been released on dvd. Good luck!
