Thank you so much for responding & trying to help, but I have accessed 2 or 3 of the Filmographies, and cannot find the movie on any of them. Since it's been so long ago that we saw the movie (we were still dating and caught it as a SNEAK preview), I really can't remember much about it, except that it takes place in a small town; Mr. Connor's wife & son are killed and I believe he is beaten and left for dead, but survives and hunts down the murderers. The movie might have been titled RESURRECTION, but even that doesn't show up on the filmographies. I do sooo appreciate your input. Guess I'll just keep researching. Thanks again.

Because it has been such a long time since we saw it, we don't remember much about it, but Mr. Connor's character and his family live in a small town, when the West was still young. His family is murdered, and he is beaten and left for dead, but survives and goes after the murderers. RESURRECTION might be another possibility for the title of the movie, but even that doesn't show up on any of the filmographies I accessed. I do know the title is one word and begins with the letter R. Thanks for trying to help.

Not a one word title, but are you sure this isn't the 1967 Ride Beyond Vengeance?

Be sure to check for "additional comments", low down the page, as the writers give quite a bit of detail about the plot and some of the character quirks used by the supporting players. (I can remember seeing this on TV in the very early 70s but that's about all I can remember of it, except for a quite young Kathryn Hays as the femme lead.) Per the synopses, Chuck's family aren't killed but he spends the movie getting revenge on guys who robbed him and left him for dead.

The trivia note on the page says the movie begins and ends with a modern highway sign outside the town where it supposedly took place (and where Connors' revenge quest is now a tourist attraction), calling it "the home of the Reprisal." Makes me wonder if Reprisal might have been a working title for the film.
