What movie memorabilia would you like to have?

Recommended Posts

CBS Sunday Morning did a segment today on the rising popularity of movie memorabilia, and mentioned that Las Vegas casino owner Steve Wynn paid $4 million via an auction for the figurine from "The Maltese Falcon." So what items from movie history would you love to have?

For me, it would be either an authentic Roy Hobbs baseball card from "The Natural" (like the one on my avatar) or the "Wonderboy" bat from the same movie. I wouldn't mind a New York Knights baseball cap and uniform, either.

Errol Flynn.

err...

I'd love Cyd Charisse's green dress from Singin' in the Rain

A pair of Judy Garland's ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz.  Although, since Judy Garland is a few inches shorter than I, I'm sad at the possibility of the shoes being too small.  I'd have to put them on at least once.

An arrow from The Adventures of Robin Hood

The knife from Psycho.

The bugle mouthpiece from From Here to Eternity

So many more.  I'd love to have tons of stuff from my favorite movies.

Sure would've liked to have been the guy who purchased McQueen's '68 GT-390 Ford Mustang in the movie "Bullitt" for 6,000 bucks and after seeing the ad for it in the L.A. Times classified section and after Warner Bros was done using it. That baby would probably get at least $10 Million at any classic car auction today.

(...yep, there are a lot of high-roller gearheads with more money than sense out there today...ever watch the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale?...that'll prove my point here!)

Seeing Harold Lloyd's home in the "Sunset Blvd" thread has me thinking how cool it would be to own the clock in the now iconic scene/still photo of his film "Safety Last" here...

Probably could think of a 100 more, but what first comes to mind

The 2 diamond clips Gene Tierney wears on the black dress while coming down the staircase in THE RAZOR'S EDGE

Any and all of Audrey Hepburn's clothes in every movie she was in

Doris Day wears a yellow dress with a pearl and sequined studded top in LOVER COME BACK

Anything Tyrone Power ever wore in any movie ;)

Ginger Rogers feather dress she designed for Top Hat

As a general rule, I'd want a prop that was useful in addition to its sentimental value for being in a favorite film, so something like a cocktail shaker from one of the Thin Man movies.  However, I'd make an exception for the intercostal clavicle from Bringing Up Baby (even though it's just a random fake bone) or the Polaroid photo from Thelma & Louise.

**James Bond's original Aston-Martin (though I just watched a show today that alleges it's missing? Apparently it was stolen in 1997 and still hasn't turned up, though the "stunt double" is still around)

**The hourglass from Wizard of Oz

**The umbrella from Singin in the Rain

**Mae West's spider ring from I'm No Angel

**one of the miniature trees or buildings from The Fellowship of the Ring

**one of the King Kong miniatures

Just a few for now.

Bruno Anthony's lobster tie from Strangers on a Train.

Just for display, not to wear.

The Indians figurine from And Then There Were None.

Before they were broken apart.

A stuffed bird from Psycho. I draw the line at Ma Bates.

Ivan the Terrible's fur coat, fur cap, and staff. Quite an

outfit.

Noticing here that you made special note of NOT wearin' the lobster tie but THEN failed to state the same with ol' Ivan's wardrobe, I'm now wonderin' if you'd ever sport that ensemble if it ever came your way, Vaultrin?

And if so, might I suggest you keep an eye out for any PETA members while strolling around in that little number!!!

(...though then again, I suppose the staff might come in pretty handy in such an event, eh?!)

;)

I've often stated the OZ hourglass as a coveted item!

I'll settle for a ceramic imitation of the MALTESE FALCON statuette!

The vintage guitar Marty Milner "plays" in THE SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS.

The house on overhang in NORTH BY NORTHWEST

The Kirby's car in TOPPER

I'd like to have a Star Trek phaser as used in the original TV series. I once wrote William Shatner in 1969, and asked him if there was one lying around, to send me one. Apparently there wasn't one lying around for him to send me.....

Speaking of space weapons, I wouldn't mind having a light saber from "Star Wars."
