leobertucelli
iN MY VERY EARLY TEENS I saw a few films by Haas where he directed & acted in. They were all so warm and poignant. I've never seen a one, have you?
bhryun
I've seen a couple. 1957's "Lizzie" which he directed and starred in and 1950's "King Solomon's Mines" that he had a part in.
bansi4
To my recollection, Hugo Haas was known for his low budget potboilers, like "Pickup", "The Girl on the Bridge", "Thy Neighbor's Wife", "One Girl's Confession" which starred blonde 'bimbos' Beverly Michaels and Cleo Moore. vickisilverwolf
I caught Lizzie a while back. It was pretty good. Based on the novel The Bird's Nest by Shirley Jackson, it was about a woman with multiple personality disorder. It was quite similar to The Three Faces of Eve, and I think it came out first! The lead actress did a good job. There's also a song by a VERY young (and handsome) Johnny Mathis. I've never seen any other movie by Haas. All I know about his films comes from The Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film, which made them sound pretty bad. They seemed to follow a typical pattern: middle-aged guy (Haas himself) gets hurt by a young floozy.
lux0786
The lead actress was Eleanor Parker and she was excellent. Such a role requires range and she had it. I love Joanne but she was not as effective as Eleanor in their respective roles IMO.
