MilesArcher
Well, if you click on one of the earlier photos, both of their names show up Then I guess I couldn't have made it any easier for anyone. Yes, it's Mickey Daniels and Mary Kornman. Hal Roach started the "Our Gang Comedies" in 1922 and the series lasted until 1944. Roach didn't want professional child actors, but instead he wanted regular kids acting naturally in mischievous situations. Mary Kornman's father worked at the Roach studio and Mickey Daniels lived down the street from the Kornmans. They became the first of the "Our Gang" stars in the silent screen days. In this photo we have from left to right, Mickey Daniels, Mary Kornman, Jackie Condon, Joe Cobb, and Allen "Farina" Hoskins. Allen Hoskins was with the gang through the transition to sound films from 1929 through the early thirties when the stars of the gang included Jackie Cooper, Mary Ann Jackson, Norman "Chubby" Chaney, and Bobby "Wheezer" Hutchins. When Jackie Cooper left to make features, Roach tried several other boys as leading characters, including Dickie Moore, Wally Albright, and Kendall "Breezy" McComas. McComas was about sixteen, but was short and looked much younger than his years. Finally, a gang member, who had been with Roach for several years, emerged as the natural leader at age seven. That was George "Spanky" McFarland. Billy "Buckwheat" Thomas was already there when Roach added Carl "Alfalfa" Switzer, Darla Hood, and Eugene "Porky" Lee to the gang. Roach sold the series to MGM in the late thirties. Spanky and Alfalfa continued on until 1942. When they left, Robert Blake became the star for the last two years. In the early thirties, Roach came up with a series for teenagers. It was known as "The Boyfriends" series. It starred Mickey Daniels and Mary Kornman and some new faces. Left to right we have David Sharpe with Gertrude Messinger, Mickey Daniels with Mary Kornman, and Grady Sutton with Dorothy Granger. Dave Sharpe would become a top Hollywood stuntman. He married Gertrude Messinger. She had an acting career that lasted until the early 1950's.. Grady Sutton should be familiar to many TCM viewers. He may best be remembered for playing Og Oggleby opposite W.C. Fields in "The Banks Dick". Dorothy Granger had a very long career where she worked with Laurel and Hardy, The Three Stooges, W.C. Fields, and Leon Errol, where she played Mrs, Errol in his long running shorts series. Mary and Mickey appeared in this corny little short in 1931. I'll be back with another post later.
MilesArcher
Who is this actress? Yes, it's the same actress in each photo. She had a busy career in silents, but most know her from her rather short career in sound films.

MilesArcher
Yes, Shutoo. I'm surprised that no one else recognized June Marlowe, who played Miss Crabtree, the teacher, in the early thirties "Our Gang" shorts. Both Jackie Cooper and Chubby Chaney had crushes on her. Her character was introduced in this episode: Thanks for participating, Shutoo. You get to post the next one.

scsu1975
NOW we're talking. Some great-looking people from the sword and sandal flicks. Offhand, #2 is the lovely Sylva Koscina, who played Steve Reeves' wife in his two Hercules flicks. #3 is Mark Forrest, who became an opera singer. #5 is Reg Park. #6 is Daliah Lavi. Edit: #8 just clicked: Elsa Martinelli
LawrenceA
#4 is one of my favorites of the time. Along with sword'n'sandal movies, she was in spy capers, spaghetti westerns, and is perhaps most famous for her title role in a camp horror film of the early 70's. #7 was an Italian who appeared under a cheesy stage name. He may have appeared in more sword'n'sandal flicks than the others on the list. #9 is an American who also acted under a cheesy stage name. He usually didn't have the mustache seen in this picture. #10 was a regular in Italian costume pictures from the late 40s through the mid 60s. She also starred in a groundbreaking Italian horror film sometime during that period.
LawrenceA
I guess there aren't any more takers, so I'll wrap this up. #4 is Rosalba Neri. She appeared in Hercules vs Moloch (1963) and Hercules and the Black Pirates (1964). She's best remembered for her title role in 1971's Lady Frankenstein. #7 was Alan Steel. He started out as Steve Reeves stunt double, but went on to star in over 12 sword'n'sandal movies, including The Fury of Hercules (1962), Samson and the Slave Queen (1963), and Hercules Against the Moon Men (1964). #9 is Ed Fury. He was an American fitness model and bit player who went to Italy and starred in a few action epics, including Colossus and the Amazon Queen (1960), Ursus (1961), and Ursus in the Land of Fire (1963). #10 was Gianna Maria Canale. She was in Italian films since the late 1940's, and she starred in 1958's I Vampiri, the first Italian horror movie of the sound era. She was in Hercules (1958) where she played the Queen of the Amazons. Rich, you got the most answers, so it's your thread, or open.

LawrenceA
#1 = Carla Laemmle #2 = Zita Johann I don't know #3.
MilesArcher
Carla Laemmle was the niece of Universal Studios founder Carl Laemmle. She had small parts in several Universal movieas in the twenties and thirties, often playing a dancer. She appeared in both "Phantom Of The Opera" and "Dracula". Zita Johann played Boris Karloff's object of desire in "The Mummy". She also was featured in "Tiger Shark" with Edward G. Robinson, which has been shown on TCM. At the time, she was married to actor/director John Houseman, who you will remember from the TV series "The Paper Chase". No. 3 is not an actor. It's Universal's head makeup artist Jack Pierce, who did the makeup for both "Dracula" and "The Mummy", as well as "Frankenstein" and "The Wolf Man". The common thread would seem to be that they all worked at Universal Studios. Here is Jack applying some touches to Karloff for "The Mummy". Here are Boris and Zita.
shutoo
Right...and Right again! Kudos to LawrenceA for spotting the Universal ladies...and extra points to MilesArcher for recognizing Jack Pierce (in a pic I cropped all 'the clues' from)...I was thinking 'Universal horror' for the theme... Since you're both such geniuses, you can decide who gets the thread
