Princess of Tap
Here's another Oscar nominee. I know I'm probably wrong but that never stopped me before-- Something about her slightly reminds me of Sylvia Sidney.
LawrenceA
I know I'm probably wrong but that never stopped me before-- Something about her slightly reminds me of Sylvia Sidney. No, not Sylvia Sidney. This lady only appeared in 3 feature films, although her acting career stretched back to over a hundred years ago.
LawrenceA
Hint: She was an acting teacher, perhaps more famously.
Princess of Tap
I didn't think she was this old but the only other woman who taught the technique was Maria Ouspenskaya - - so the only other person I can think of is Marlon Brando's instructor-- Stella Adler I remember her even though she wasn't in a lot of movies because Brando always made a big deal that Lee Strasberg Didn't Know Jack and then he got it all from Stella! I've got to admit that photo doesn't look like her in my opinion, so maybe I'm wrong.
LawrenceA
That's not Ms. Adler. This woman focused on the stage, and founded her own theater company, and was considered an important figure in the foundation of the Off-Broadway theater movement. Her teaching was done through her repertory company, and not in a school. One last hint, and it's a giveaway: her Oscar nomination came in the decade of the 1980's.
