GUESS WHO?

So we've established the actor is not Gary Cooper, and he was foreign born.

He made a few films overseas early in his career, but the bulk of his work was done in America. Early on, he played leading man types, but would never be considered a star. He lived to a ripe old age.

Could it be Duncan Renaldo?  If not, I'll need another hint or two.

Not Duncan Renaldo. This actor was not Spanish. He began acting in the late 1920s and his last acting credit was in the 1970s, but he lived well beyond that.

If you are a horror buff, this next clue may help. Later in his career (he was almost 60) he portrayed a vampire.

You've got quite a mix here, Lawrence.  I don't see a common theme here other than I know some of them are foreign born.  Like Rich, I also recognized Titos Vandis, Adolfo Celi, and Lucianna Paluzzi.  The latter two were both in the James Bond movie, "Thunderball".  Sammy Petrillo was a Jerry Lewis impersonator.

Here are the other ones I recognize.

1.  I think No. 1 is the little boy who Montgomery Clift helped to find his mother in a post war film set in Germany called "The Search".  I looked up the film and the boy's name was Ivan Jandl.

5.  Not just another pretty face.  I believe that is Skelton Knaggs.  He played bit parts in some scary movies in the forties like "Ghost Ship".  He was usually a sneaky little guy hiding in shadows who witnessed some dirty deeds.

6.  I think this might be Barbara Payton, who had a rather scandalous life.

10.  She looks like silent screen actress Pearl White, famous for "The Perils Of Pauline".

Correct on all except #6. This beautiful blonde is also perhaps best remembered for her scandals, rather than her screen work.

That also leaves # 7 and # 8.

Both were silent screen stars.

Both were foreign born.

#7 died young and nearly destitute, just after sound films became the norm.

#8 lived a long life (92 years), and co-starred in one of the most visually iconic silents.

Oh #6 is Lila Leeds. I should have recognized her from a photo I posted a few months ago ... but she looked a little different in a white turtleneck.

I thought someone had talked about her around here recently.

That just leaves #7.

She found initial fame in Europe, working with notables such as EA DuPont, FW Murnau, Fritz Lang, and Emil Jannings. She later came to America and appeared in a film from DW Griffith. Her final film was in 1929, an early adaptation of a novel that would be re-filmed 6 years later and become a multiple Oscar winner. This actress died in 1931 at age 34.

Lya De Putti. Thanks for introducing us to her!

I will leave the thread open.

By the way, I just found the 1929 version of The Informer on youtube, so it might be worth a look. De Putti's voice was apparently dubbed, but not so for leading man Lars Hanson. The print isn't so hot, but it's watchable.
