roverrocks
Russian/Soviet magic from 1962. The well-made and riveting IVAN"S CHILDHOOD. A masterpiece of the horrors of war experienced by an orphaned 12 year old Russian boy in the killing fields of WW2. Watched this today on Amazon for rent television. Hauntingly moving between prewar happy childhood to wartime old-before-his-time young Soviet Army behind-the-lines scout and partisan. One heck of a last 10 minutes of film ending in a smoking Berlin. Russian language and English subtitled. Stunningly acted and filmed. A lost childhood.
