MrClift
I need help finding the name of a film I saw several years ago on TCM. It was an older black and white film, most likely from the 30s and started with a scene of two struggling playwrights and/or songwriters trying to come up with a new musical in their boarding house. The landlord keeps knocking on their door for the rent, and they answer in their boxer shorts, because they used their last money to have their pants laundered. It also, if I remember correctly, has a case of mistaken identity, where a college girl is mistaken for a great stage star coming over from London, and makes her way to Broadway fame. I'm hoping you can help me find this movie!!
BelleLeGrand1
That's Ready, Willing, and Able (1937), starring Ruby Keeler, Ross Alexander and Lee Dixon. It's got the production number where Ruby and Lee dance on a giant typewriter keyboard. Hope this helps.

MilesArcher
This clip may help revive that memory! Leading man Ross Alexander committed suicide before the picture was released. Warner Bros. then changed the billing, giving him fifth billing when the movie was released and giving tap dancer Lee Dixon second billing behind Ruby Keeler. Lee Dixon originated the role of Will Parker in "Oklahoma" on Broadway in 1943.
