In previous years, this was the weekend that Cincinnati's Emery Theatre would show the 1955 film PICNIC as part of its weekly double feature and organ concert. Since this picture captured its time and way of life so well, it was always the perfect way to say goodbye to summer. The Emery has been closed for several years now, but I still watch the movie every Labor Day -- which is even easier now that I have it on DVD.
