KarmaGirl
There was an actor who stuttered mightily and they used him for "comic effect" in the 30's or 40's ... does anybody know his name? The only character actor that I can think of that had a stutter is Roscoe Ates. He was in the movie "Freaks" as the husband of one of the conjoined twins. I hope that helps.

Terrence1
I remember Roscoe Ates in Westerns. Again, he was used for comic effect, and he fit into Westerns quite believably.
MilesArcher
Roscoe Ates played Soapy Jones, the sidekick of singing cowboy Eddie Dean, in a series of "B" westerns at poverty row studio PRC (Producers Releasing Corporation) in the forties. He also played Wallace Beery's trainer in "The Champ" in 1931.
