Sepiatone
Watching Ben's intro to "HOODLUM PRIEST", he pronounced the name of actor KEIR DULLEA as-- KEER DOOL-yay! But for several years, I've heard many a "movie host" pronounce it "Doo-YAY"! It's no wonder we're sometimes confused! Sepiatone

What is the origin of that surname? Is it Spanish or French? Or something else?
slaytonf
Per pronounceitright.com, it's kee-yair doo-lay: http://www.pronounceitright.com/pronounce/12901/keir-dullea Sounds French to me.
Sepiatone
All I could find out is that he was born in Cleveland. THAT leaves open a cornocopia of ethnic possibilities! If Spanish( and don't let the fair hair and blue eyes throw you....I had a high school History teacher named ESTEVEZ, who was also blonde and blue-eyed! ) then it's fair to assume the "L"'s in the name would be sort of "Y" pronounced, as in "tortilla". I'm not sure about if French, as MY French is as good as my URDU! Sepiatone
