CaveGirl
Tuesday, April 19 8 p.m. A Taste of Honey (1962) Dora Bryan is great as Rita Tushingham’s mother. 4:30 a.m. Executive Action (1973) A long neglected JFK assassination film. I’m surprised it is on the schedule. Thanks, Bogie, I've wanted for a long time to see "A Taste of Honey" again! I don't need to watch "Executive Action" though since I've solved the Kennedy assassination a long time ago. Let's just say the biggest clue is in a very little detail that is not about the grassy knoll, or the Mannlicher-Carcano rifle, or shell casings, or if Jada saw Ruby and Oswald at the Carousel or even if someone was shooting from below the street in a sewer. Just watch all the old film footage of who and what was showing up at Parkland Hospital and then who or what is leaving the Dallas Police headquarters, right after Ruby shoots Oswald and you have the solution. speedracer5
April 21 The entire Jack Lemmon evening is excellent. I love Some Like it Hot, The Odd Couple, Mister Roberts and The Apartment. I'm planning on recording The China Syndrome. I like the cast: Lemmon, Jane Fonda and Michael Douglas. I'm also planning on recording The Helen Morgan Story. I love torch singers. I was really impressed by Ann Blyth in Mildred Pierce and have been looking out for more of her films to watch. I also like Paul Newman and have been trying to see more of his films. HBO is showing MISSING, and I own DAD,OUT TO SEA, MY FELLOW AMERICANS, GLENGARY GLEN ROSS, and one of my favorites IT HAPPENED TO JANE with Doris Day. A showing of THE APRIL FOOLS would have been appropriate.

Barton_Keyes
Interesting. I did not realize he liked that type of movie. Not 'that type of movie' so much as that movie in particular. Hughes is reported to have run a print of ICE STATION ZEBRA on a continuous loop in his hotel suite in the years preceding his death. He was obsessed with the film.

I saw The Aviator where he would watch The Outlaw outtakes over and over. Ice station Zebra is a favourite of mine. I wondered about the genre, but it is a very well made suspense film. LawrenceA
Late tomorrow night, I'll be taping From the Life of the Marionettes (1980), which is another Ingmar Bergman film I've missed. I must also recommend Possession (1981) 2:00 A.M. EST. It's a sweet little movie that will put you to sleep with pleasant dreams. It's kid tested and Larry approved.

It's kid tested and Larry approved. Sweet dreams are made of this - LOL. The this in this case made it onto the UK list of Video Nasties, something which it really didn't deserve - although it is rather disturbing in places & a candidate for Sam Neill's weirdest movie ever. It's the kind of movie the Underground slot was made for, IMO & I'll be (re)watching it.

And another vote for 'The April Fools' (1969).
SansFin
I have adopted policy to rarely mention: foreign movies but I make exception to alert all that: Woman In The Dunes (1964) is this week's: TCM Import. It is very powerful visually and has great personal intensity. It might be termed: International film rather than: Foreign film because of its wide acceptance in many countries.
Bogie56
Sunday, April 24/25 4:15 a.m. Antonio Gaudi (1986). I’ll pick this documentary on Gaudi as the highlight.

mr6666
Mon. @8 pm ET, this is alot of fun & only film featuring all 3 B's.. Rasputin And The Empress (1932) Synopsis: True story of the mad monk who plotted to rule Russia.Dir: Richard Boleslavsky Cast: John Barrymore , Ethel Barrymore , Lionel Barrymore . article: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/388/Rasputin-And-The-Empress/articles.html
LornaHansonForbes
This is going to sound really strange, and maybe obnoxious, I don't mean for it to. It's great to see RASPUTIN AND THE EMPRESS and NIGHT FLIGHT on the schedule because they're both really rare- NIGHT FLIGHT was kind of "lost" for years...both are recommended for historical value; honestly though- the main thing I remember about first title is the fact that Ethel Barrymore is not very good in it. There are all kinds of reasons why this could be; I know she was hostile towards the director, maybe she was testing him by out-hamming John and Lionel (normally, a real feat, only this time John is understated, and he's not Rasputin, Lionel is.) NIGHT FLIGHT is a mess of a movie; but a fascinating mess and I really do thank TCM for digging it out of obscurity. I WILL TRY TO WATCH IT TONIGHT I SWEAR- Because I want to see if it's as bad as I recall, but again: it is fascinating to watch and you can see why it was shelved. So, both are recommended, although know going in that both have (IMO) some issues. ps- and sometimes i would rather watch a fascinating mess of a movie than something perfect...and dull.

Fedya
Hold 'Em Jail (8:00 AM). Wheeler and Woolsey play a couple of guys who get framed by gangsters and sent up the river for it. Needless to say, they wind up taking over the prison right out from under the nose of warden Edgar Kennedy. They then take part in the big inter-prison football game on which the two wardens have a bet. The supporting cast is interesting. Kennedy is the warden, married to Edna May Oliver. They have a daughter of the sort they could only have in a Hollywood movie: teenaged Betty Grable. One wonders whose genes she inherited.
CaveGirl
Tomorrow, 4/26, I'll be taping Sex Kittens Go to College, because it's about sex kittens...in college. CRIMINY!$!*$!?! You told me, Lawrence that you were watching to see the amazing cast which includes Brigitte Bardot's sister, Maila Nurmi [aka Vampira], Jackie Coogan, Pamela Mason [wife of James and mother of Portland], and the sons of both Chaplin and Lloyd. You also told me that you watch anything produced by Albert Zugsmith of "High School Confidential" fame. You mentioned not one word about "sex", your love for "kittens" or "college". I can only hope that you get hit by some bullets from Mamie's bullet brassiere for being such a liar!
Bogie56
Tuesday, April 26 Edgar Kennedy day. 8:15 a.m. Her Majesty, Love (1931) with W.C. Fields. This used to be on the schedule but has been replaced. 11:30 p.m. Lord Love a Duck (1966) I’ve been on the hunt for a good copy of this one. speedracer5
Duck Soup is the big hit of the day. That's the only film of the day I've seen too. Lol. --- I'm recording: Hollywood Hotel. I don't especially like Busby Berkeley and I prefer Dick Powell as a non-crooner. However, the only reason I'm recording this is because it says it features Benny Goodman performing "Sing Sing Sing," one of my favorite big band songs. Rock, Rock, Rock. This Tuesday Weld movie features a bunch of 1950s bands and I do love me some teen movies. This one sounds up my alley: "A teenager will stop at nothing to find the perfect dress for the school dance." The synopsis also says that it features a young Valerie Harper. Sold! Lord Love a Duck. This sounds like a makeover movie and takes place in high school. I love teen movies and I love makeover movies. I especially love teenage makeover movies (e.g. "Clueless.") Sex Kittens Go to College. With a title like this and a synopsis that says: "A stripper with a high IQ gets a job teaching at a college science department through a selection process determined by a robot" how can I not want to watch this? This sounds amazing! --- I was going to record My Dream is Yours because I thought it was a Doris Day movie I hadn't seen. After reading the synopsis, I have seen this movie and it was a dud. I did not care for the bizarre Bugs Bunny sequence (a star whom I normally love) where Doris and Jack Carson are dressed like rabbits.
