TheGayDivorcee
At least a year ago I heard a song on a radio station that plays music from the '20s through '60s. The only line I remember is "I (I've?) got the frigidaire," sung with great exuberance and charm by a female singer. I googled the line, but couldn't find it. Not much to go on, I know, but if it sounds familiar to anyone I'd love to know. Many thanks!
Kid Dabb
Could this be it? How Come? performed by Anita O'Day I've got a guy who says he loves me, so he says! And every night he's dreamin' of me, so he says!I'm gonna knock on his front door,I'm gonna find out what's the score! How come you don't love me like you used to, how come? And you still my baby! Come come! You go runnin' round datin'And leave me waitin',Oh baby, how come, how come? You don't kiss me like you used to, how come?Am I still your baby? Come come! You're a solid hit, skipper,But honey, I'm a hipper!Tell me how come?Baby, I'm confessin'You have got me guessin';Lately, I don't get nowhere,I get the air of Frigidaire! How come you don't thrill me how you used to, how come? And you still my baby! Come come!Better stop your lyin',Alibi-in',And tell me baby, how come?Baby, I'm confessin'You have got me guessin';Lately, I don't get nowhere,I get the air of Frigidaire! How come you don't thrill me how you used to, how come? And you still my baby! Come come!Better stop your lyin',Alibi-in',And tell me baby, how come? You better stop your lyin' and tell me how come!
MilesArcher
There's a song that I've posted about on the "Do You Know This Song?" thread on the "Games And Trivia Forum". It was sung by Lillian Roth and Hal Thompson in the Marx Bros. movie "Animal Crackers". It's called "Why Am I So Romantic?". Here is a clip: You can see the lyrics in this site: http://lyricsplayground.com/alpha/songs/w/whyamisoromantic.shtml Of course, the song "Two Sleepy People" also contains a reference to "Frigidaire". It was sung by Bob Hope and Shirley Ross in the movie "Thanks For The Memory". Here are the lyrics. http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/h/hoagy_carmichael/two_sleepy_people.html

TheGayDivorcee
Could this be it? Thanks very much, Kid, a zippy number! This sounds a little later than the one I remember. It is funny though that a few songs of that era used "frigidaire!"

I'll have to have a look at the thread you mention, sounds like fun.

TheGayDivorcee
Did you hear the word Frigidaire several times, in several lines.. or just in one line? Wish I could remember--I think I heard it at least in a couple lines. Thanks for the translation. I'm half Czech, so I suppose it should have made sense to me!
