Yes, everyone was saying it in '98, the broken-record effect as well as stacking the cards, a concerted effort to establish who the enemy is. But they didn't start a stupid war over it.
And then there's the Saudi's implicit involvement - which to this day has been covered up by the Bush family and may never come to light. Someone locked that file up and sent the key to the black hole at the center of our galaxy.
... are you gonna eat that last taco?
That was the excuse to involve us in another war which brought nothing but the misery of ISIS to that country.
Strange, I didn't know Iraq attacked us on 9/11.
Good comments, everyone.
I've heard some references to the weak response to the Beirut Destruction where two guys in a pickup drove into the Marine barracks as "the start of all problems" except, well... what were the Marines doing there in the first place? And others have said the limp-wristed non-action by Carter to the 444 days of hostages were The Problem. Or that Reagan-Bush payoffs to the Ayotollah to keep the hostages and cement their 1980 victory was The Problem.
Except. there's a line about "shores of Tripoli" long long before any of this. And there have been uprisings against all leaders in all of those regions for hundreds of years. Thousands. "Revolution" and discontent and insurrections started long LONG before "Isis" or whatever other spelling the murderers and victims' press want to use.
I just want to know why the US Army needs to be the Hessians or Prussians - always out for hire, creating a mercenary class with company logos that look like very very dark water.
I keep expecting all of this Army-for-Hire scenarios to give us 29.9 gasoline again, or at least cut our taxes in half because we're getting paid SOOO much for our mercenary army to appear.

True, for thousands of years. That's the way these people are. There are even 3,500 year old stories about it in the Bible.
We're sure not going to stop it and teach them "democracy".
