cigarjoe
that possibly accelerated the German Expressionist/Film Noir style was the rationing of resources brought on by WWII. see Blackout: World War II and the Origins of Film Noir – October 19, 2005 by Sheri Chinen Biesen
Cyrano81
I am new to this but possibly one of the variables that led to it. I would strongly consider that those involved in German Expressionism in cinema could be considered a resource also and the coming to power of Hitler and the Nazis would be a great threat to those in the field and like Lang left Germany seeing what was coming and would happen later in Germany and in all areas of Europe controlled by the Nazis (any threat to those of power including criticism thru media and film).
