They shoulda used it!

There are several numbers filmed for GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES, but were not used. The preview has Jane and Marilyn performing one of these, it can be noticed because of the costumes. In the film, you jusg see them coming off stage with these costumes, but the number was not used. It would be great if the footage of this and other deleted numbers could be located, and added as extras to a dvd / bluray release.

The Big Parade had a proposed ending,(because I've seen the photo's) where Renée had ran to Jack, and in their unbridled enthusiasm, wind up falling down on the dirt road, with her on top kissing him. That will bug me till the day I die, because it's a 100% perfect ending, and I can't find any answers to why Vidor didn't use it. I've even asked Louie B.Mayers grand niece if she knew anything about this....to no avail. ????

Chris, there's a GAGMAN66 here on the boards. He is a specialist in silent films and The Big Parade just happens to be his favorite film, which is saying something because this man knows just about everything there is know about silent films. He is also adept at colorizing silent posters and photographs with photo shop software. I don't think I've ever heard even mention anything other than a silent film. You need to put this question to him. I don't know him that well but he seems pretty nice, we PMed a couple of times years ago. I think he would be only too glad to talk to you about that film. If anybody knows the answer, it's him. He can sometimes be found down South on the silent film genre thread (but I would recommend PM).

Deleted scenes, dialogue, songs, or other stuff that should have been included in a film

In the original script of The Apartment, the final shot has the following words onscreen:

And That's The End

Story-wise

I would have like that. Too bad.

Oh thank you! It's one of my all time favs as well. I've read so many books, and watched lots interviews on the principles involved at MGM with that production, searching for anything, like a squirel who's on a quest to find the lost golden nut! Looooool
