Richard Dix Day tomorrow!

One of my very favorite actors, even if he was somewhat wooden in his delivery.  He could nonetheless transmit a commanding leading man aura.  It's no mystery he was a major leading man in the silent era, the thirties, all through his career, in fact.  I suppose his most important film is Cimarron, as the irresponsible, roving Yancey Cravat.  Another favorite of mine, occasionally seen, but which we will not tomorrow, is Hell's Highway, a brutal depiction of chain-gang life.  In The Ghost Ship, one of his last movies, his stiffness acts to heighten the malevolence of Captain Stone's character.

The films are The Kansan, Cimarron, The Arizonian, men Against the Sky, Ace of Aces and The Lost Squadron in that order. Cimarron will be on at 9:30 pm EDT/8:30 pm CDT.
