Sgt_Markoff
I missed that particular nuance. My mistake. But it often seems like one and the same to me, these days. The business of rehearsing, staging, blocking...
speedracer5
My favorite films about theater: 1. All About Eve. I've seen this film 20 times and I never tire of it--even knowing how Eve will be brought down and anticipating the showdown between her and Addison, it's still just as fun to watch the 20th time as it was the 1st time. 2. Stage Door 3. Moulin Rouge! (2001) 4. The Gold Diggers of 1933 5. 42nd Street 6. Waiting For Guffman 7. Easter Parade 8. Summer Stock 9. The Band Wagon. Save for the "Triplets" song which I can't stand. 10. The Producers (1967).

Sgt_Markoff
"The Red Shoes", yeah for sure. "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" is a sweet comedy by Joe Dante(?) and Steven Spielberg. About the Beatles first concert in New York. Then there's "Gimme Shelter" about the Stones. semi-related: "Carny" with Robbie Robertson, Gary Busey, and Jody Foster. "The Competition" (about symphony pianists) with Richard Dreyfus and Amy Irving. A superb little TV movie starring Don Johnson: "Amateur Night at the Dixie Bar and Grill"
