Guest rsteiner0609
Hello everyone, First, our apologies for not giving everyone a heads up on this message boards transition. We are in the process of fixing several problems that you?ve detailed and have looked carefully at your complaints and posts. We will continue to work through these and address all your concerns. Everyone should be able to keep their screen names, which we?ve retained. You will need to re-register through our new Member Services section, but you can use your old screen name. We needed to do this to leave the AOL Screen Name service. There were several reasons for our transition, but this was primarily to get us off of the AOL Screen Name Service, which we were receiving a number of complaints on regarding log-in and posting. Although there are a few problems at the outset here, we think this will help create greater stability in log-in and posting moving forward. Plus, there are a number of great new features with this upgrade. We will continue to read your posts and try and address any suggestions. In addition ? this is in anticipation of great things to come. TCM is working on a new movie database and web site which we?re very excited about, scheduled to launch in Nov. Getting re-registered will allow you to more actively contribute to TCM everywhere on the site. We think this great Message Board community will be an active shaper in the direction and future of both of these. Thank you for your continued patience and dedication with these Boards. Our tech lead is working on these problems now. We apologize again for any inconvenience. If you have any specific problems with the log-in or posting, we ask you to please post these in the ?Technical Issues with Message Boards? section. Thank you. sandykaypax
Thank you for the post! I have had no trouble logging in and re-registering. I find it easier than the old sign in. I also love not having to read posts "backwards" anymore! Thanks! Sandy K
KeithFromKC
TCMWEB1, Again, my question would be, where did my name go on the 400+ posts I've made here? It's as if I never existed here. I am glad that someone likes the new upgrade, but I'm finding it hard to use. Maybe it's just not worth coming back to....this really sucks. movieslover1
I also can't get my original name, It keeps cutting off the three zero's at the end. Will this be fixed.
Guest rsteiner0609
Hello, You should be able to retain your previous screen name in most cases (we will investigate the '000' issue). You may consider re-registering (using a different email) to re-capture your previous screen name if this was not done initially. Once this is successful, you can send us an email here: http://www.turnerclassicmovies.com/feedback We will then delete the new name you recently registered, if you desire. Once you have registered your old screen name, you should see all previous posts you have made under your Message Board account. If this is still not the case, please let us know. Thank you. vecchiolarry
Tcmweb1, Thank you for addressing our concerns.... The only one that really affects me the most is the small font size. I can live with everything else, but if the print is not increased, then I will have to abandon this site. I'm too old to read this small print..... Regards, Larry
Guest rsteiner0609
Larry, We are looking into the font size increase. We've already increased the font size for certain sections and are working on increasing the font size for the main body text. We hope to have this resolved soon. Thanks for your patience. lux0786
I second vecchiolarry's request. I'm not ready to throw in the towel quite yet but it's only a matter of time. Already I'm tired of peering bleary-eyed into my computer screen. Fonts of this small size are fine for short explanatory notes, discalimers, headings, etc., on a given webpage but certainly not fine for reading extended text that requires concentration. I certainly urge TCM webmasters to do something about this. Thanks.
movieslover1
tcmweb1: the problem seems to be that my old name, movieslover1000, has 15 chharecters, and the re register thing will not take more than 12 charecters
bggalaxy
Since it appears questions are being answered here, I have one: Will the posts be set up to read the most current first and the oldest last? It is tough going trough several pages of replies to read the latest response. If this could be done or give us an option to view posts in this order would be great. Thank you for your reply
nickdimeo
I like the new look of the website, but my household income?
sandykaypax
Yeah, I agree, nick. I left those fields blank. I know it's for marketing research purposes, but I was taught that it's rude to ask someone how much money they make! Whether someone asks me to my face or it's on a website, 'tain't nobodys business! Sandy K
Guest rsteiner0609
Hello again everyone - We've received some requests both for and against altering the order of threads. For now, the current structure of the first post listed at top is in the majority - as this is a common convention on most message boards, as long as there is a 'last post' link and easy page navigation to get to the most recent post. As for the 'income' question of our Member Services, this is optional information. To sign-up we only require an email address and member name. I wanted to let everyone know we are still looking at the font size issue. In the meantime - for anyone who is does not care for the small font size in the body text of messages - you can press your "Ctrl" key on your keyboard and then also press the "+" sign on your keybaord, and this will automatically increase the text in this section of your web browser. This is an excellent solution until we adjust the text size. Thank you again for your patience. TCM web staff -
deeanddaisy666
Heck, I don't even like when they ask my name. If you look, I'm logged in as: first name-myob last name-myob myob Those who know my name know my name, those who want to spam me can...well, you know. So, how about the emoticons, tcmprogrammer? By the way, kudos for getting back to us on the same day you created this aberration. Won't find THAT at other message boards.
Guest rsteiner0609
Movieslover1 - We have adjusted the log-in name entry to accomodate for your long name - movieslover000, so you should now be able to recapture your old screen name. Sorry for the inconvenience. Let us know if you still cannot get your old name. Best, TCM web staff -
bansi4
tcmweb, Is there a time limit on posting a message? I have been posting the birthday thread for a few years and some days they are lengthy, although I've had no difficulty posting the list until the recent change. After I posted the lengthy recently, it did not post, and I was brought back to the sign-in page. I posted an edited version of the list today and it posted, although I had to leave out essential info that the board members enjoy. Once logged in, how much time do we have to post the message? useralx1172
Um, font settings that can't be adjusted on the client side? Sessions that expire within minutes and zap form content, forcing the user to either use cut-and-paste or re-enter manually? Sorry, folks, that wouldn't have been professional quality messageboard software even 10 years ago, at the dawn of the Web.
deeanddaisy666
Yup. Looks like Time Warner, along with all the other corporations, is paying their off-shored web developers $300. a month. And getting what they pay for.
cybrspacy
I totally agree. The small font size is awful. I struggle to read the posts now and it's almost not worth the effort. Please do something right away.

deeanddaisy666
When I first come into the site, I don't see any indication of new messages, all the titles are greyed. Are they? Highlighted as to which topic has new posts, that is?
Guest rsteiner0609
Hello again - We are working on the font issue and promise to get this increased shortly. Mongo - we've done testing on the posts in terms of timing, length and stability and we are following up with the message board software owners on the issues you're reporting - we'll post our answers here. There should not be any limitations with length or timing - we'll make sure of that. We will continue to work on these issues over the next few days. We appreciate your patience with this. Guest rsteiner0609
Hi all, Wanted to update everyone that the email capability for the Thread Watching is now fixed - you should be getting emails for any new posts you have for any thread you watch. You can set this up easily in your Control Panel. I know there were some questions regarding Emoticons - these should also be working just fine - please let us know if you are having problems. Mongo - the limit on a post is currently pretty short - 10 minutes for any inactive post. We will increase this and post the new time limit, but feel free to chime in with what anyone feels is a necessary time limit on inactive posts. We are continuing to test the preview/post capabilities - we will post an update on that soon. Thanks again everyone for the helpful feedback - TCM web -
cybrspacy
I'm having trouble navigating to the most recent posts. Every time I click on "Last Post" I get an error message, plus the wait is excrutiating, as it takes forever just to be let down. By the way, I have a brand new computer and a quick connection speed so I know the sloooow page loading is not just me.I really MUCH preferred the old method we had where the most recent posts appeared automatically. Who cares what the original post said, especially on the long posts, like Mongo's Birthday thread? What do the rest of you think?
