NipkowDisc
alotta John Wayne movies on tonite like Brannigan and McQ and Rio Lobo. they worked because Duke made 'em work. you have your Clark Gables and your Spencer Tracys but there was only one John Wayne. time will not diminish his screen legacy... Viva Duke Wayne! ...especially if you're the good guy.
mrroberts
I am not a Duke "fanatic" like some but I surely like many of his films a lot. Unfortunately by the 1970's he was getting a bit old and tired looking to play those tough guy characters convincingly. And the Duke had been doing so many westerns in recent years that he looked so out of place being a cop in a suit. The films are not bad, but pale in comparison to his earlier work. Happily his final film, THE SHOOTIST, was more suitable for him at that point in his life and was a terrific curtain call for him, one of his very best film performances.
