Here are a few more films:

San Francisco

Boys Town & Men of Boys Town

Those titles would make an interesting primetime spotlight on TCM-- Spencer Tracy as a man of the cloth.

Plus he also played a priest in THE DEVIL AT FOUR O'CLOCK.

The Garden of Allah

So glad you brought that film into the discussion. It's been a while since I've seen it-- and it's one I really love watching.

It was filmed along the sand dunes outside Yuma, Arizona where I lived for several years.

The Vicar of Dibley--UK TV series starring Dawn French

KarmaGirl - I love this series - Dawn French along with all the ensemble cast are truly wonderful actors. Richard Curtis co-wrote the series and then went on to directing and writing films such as "Four Wedding and a Funeral", "Nottingham", "Love Actually". Thanks for mentioning it.

Some British directors made training/propaganda films during WWII--

Ray Boulting worked with John Huston and Frank Capra on TUNISIAN VICTORY. Boulting also directed another one called DESERT VICTORY on his own.

Alfred Hitchcock made BON VOYAGE, a short film in French for the British Ministry of Information.

Carol Reed collaborated on a film known as THE TRUE GLORY with American director Garson Kanin.

let's not forget the Private Snafu cartoons made by Chuck Jones and Fritz freleng

there are lots of non-Snafu cartoons from World War II made by every cartoon house including Tex Avery and Walt Disney

and since you didn't say American propaganda films, gotta include Leni Riefenstahl

Robin Williams--there is a Youtube video of Williams entertaining the troops at the moment Reveille plays.  The audience stood up and turned their backs to Williams.

When did that occur? Was it a scene from GOOD MORNING VIETNAM..?
