That Dick Van Dyke episode is a two-parter, I believe, and poor Jerry is too shy to play in front of others. (I'm going to confess that I still watch The Dick Van Dyke Show on MeTV, Sunday nights. Anybody else?!)

George Segal played the banjo on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Both he and his wife played for Johnny. His wife was his age, someone he met at a class reunion, which made an impression on me. He and his wife seemed just like regular folks, not big stars at all. His love story could be anybody's love story, and I took that as a huge plus for him and his wife.

Thanks starliteyes! That was more than a few. :)

Since today is officially the first day of spring, I thought it would be fun if Spring Byington was our focus.

Paulll, I get MeTV over-the-air, believe it or not. There are two episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show every Sunday night, and it's a wonderful way to forget all my troubles. (Pandemic? What pandemic? There isn't one for at least  one hour on Sundays!)

Stay well, one and all!

I hate to think of anyone waiting for Sunday! (or sitting through those awful sick kid/hurt doggie ads on ota tv)...if you don't have Hulu (which has all the episodes) y  ou can stream it anytime, anywhere at Uncle Earl's Classic tv site....here's the link to the Dick Van Dyke episodes  https://www.solie.org/alibrary/TheDickVanDykeShow.html

love the site...it's a gold mine of classic tv--a lot easier than wading through youtube...and no ads!

This is great, Shutoo. I don't mind having Sunday nights devoted to Rob Petrie! And the ads give me a chance to another cup of tea. Don't want to let myself turn into a complete couch potato!

I searched for the pilot episode in the list at Uncle Earl's. That's the one that I really want to see. Have you ever found it online?

I've watched it on Hulu...let's just say Carl Reiner was VERY smart to re-cast and re-tool the show...it's pretty awful.  There's a colorized version of it on youtube...I tried posting the link here but the whole thing popped up...just  search: Head of the Family 1961 Carl Reiner
