edit: I've been trying to think of a film where a B'way producer has a 'nobody' pretend to be a French singing star, but I can't remember who was in it...anybody know? (the category made me think of it...)

Doris Day does something similar in IT'S A GREAT FEELING -- Jack Carson tries to pass Doris off as a French movie star to get her into Hollywood

I was kidding, though I haven't seen it yet, I already knew the plot had twists and turns :)

I actually didn't spoil the BIG twist. You'll have to watch the movie and be surprised.

The Kim family is revealed to be fraudsters in the first five minutes of the movie. But it's what happens later, a chain of events started by their fraud, where the movie really goes in some unexpected directions.

PARASITE (2019) is currently available for streaming on Hulu.

TCM seldom airs this film. I'd like to see it again.

Desperately Seeking Susan (1985): Rosanna Arquette plays Roberta, who isn't a stranger to the audience but she's a stranger to Susan when she runs a personal ad signed "Stranger." She's also a stranger to herself because she suffers from amnesia!

Oops, Urkel strikes again. Sorry! :)

Incidentally, DOWN AND OUT is based on a French film, BOUDU SAVED FROM DROWNING (1932).

In PHONE CALL FROM A STRANGER (1952) Gary Merrill plays a writer who calls/visits the family members of people who died in a plane crash. It was a plane he had been on himself, meaning he met some of these fellow passengers before they were killed.

His visits are powerful. His visits change lives.

Highly recommend this film! Especially the last sequence where he goes to see an invalid played by Bette Davis.
