She played the lead role of Lady Torrance in the 1957 stage production of Tennessee Williams' Orpheus Descending.

When it was adapted into a film, called THE FUGITIVE KIND in 1960, that part was given to Anna Magnani. But Stapleton appeared in the movie, playing the supporting role of Vee Talbot.

Yes exactly. This means we could also mention WEEKEND AT BERNIE'S (1989) where a dead man is seen by a lot of people (even though they believe he is alive).
