If you think about it, nighttime soaps were all about rivalries. You already mentioned Dynasty. On Falcon Crest we had Angela (Jane Wyman) battling her nephew Chase (Robert Foxworth) in the early years for control of the vineyards. As the show went on, she dealt with Richard (David Selby) as her business rival. The twist with him...is she later found out he was the son that had been taken away from her.
