I am going to steal TopBilled's answer from the last question, as it fits here, too!

Baby's Day Out (1994)

I had forgotten about this film until you mentioned it! It used to be my favorite as a kid.

Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche became known to a new audience for their roles in Trading Places (1983).

Bellamy was the first casting choice for the role of Randolph Duke, but Ray Milland was the original choice for the role of Mortimer Duke. Milland couldn't pass the insurance physical so Ameche was suggested, but casting director, Bonnie Timmermann, told director, John Landis, that Ameche was dead. That might have been the end of it if Landis had not followed his belief that this was untrue, and he tracked down Ameche. When Landis asked Ameche why he'd not been in a film in a decade, Ameche told him something along the lines of "no one called".

"Back from the dead" surely is the ultimate career resurgence!

(I read that the original salary offer to Ameche was less than what was offered Milland. When Ameche held out for equal pay, the film's budget was reduced.)
