Rock HudsonDoris Day, and Tony Randall: Some people mention the films they were in together (3 altogether). Some people I talk to, never knew about them [or always forget poor Tony Randall].

Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis: Filmed 5 movies together! Nobody seems to mention that, I noticed it by researching each of them.

John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara: Both sides of my family love these two together! I do know people who dislike one or the other (uggh), and never mention their being paired together frequently.

Natalie Wood and Robert Redford: These two were great friends in real life. They starred in 2 films together, and Natalie made a cameo in his 'The Candidate'.

Natalie Wood and Tony Curtis: These two actors completed three films together in a 7 year span. Two being very funny!

Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner: These two actors also completed 3 films together as well.

Cary Grant and Irene Dunne: These two actors also completed 3 films together too.

Cyd Charisse and Judy Garland: YES!!! Absolute awesomeness! These two appeared in five films together: The Harvey Girls, Ziegfeld Follies, Till the Clouds Roll By, Words and Music, and Thousand Cheers. This one I also learned by researching!

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton: I always hear about their tumultuous marriages, but never about how they completed 11 movies together!

Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda: These two power actors completed 3 films together too. You only really hear about Yours, Mine and Ours though.

Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau: People usually only mention Grumpy and Grumpier Old Men, but these two starred in 10 movies together, most pretty funny!

Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli: Another married couple who frequently worked together! 4 film collaborations for these two!

When Janet Leigh was a Star of the Month two years ago, TCM did focus one evening on the Leigh & Curtis collaborations (probably because Curtis hasn't been SOTM yet). Some of the films they made together are quite good and they occurred across genres, showing how versatile these two could be with different material.

Your comment about an editor reminds me of Susan Morse, who edited twenty Woody Allen pictures-- from MANHATTAN in 1979 to CELEBRITY in 1998. She's still working, but with other directors these days.

I would like to add Olivia de Havilland to the list with a couple of people she worked with.

She worked with Errol Flynn in 9 movies.

She worked with Bette Davis in 4 movies.

She worked with Hattie McDaniel in 4 movies.

She was also paired with Dick Powell. They were lovers Hermia & Lysander in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. Then they teamed up for HARD TO GET, a rom-com where she was an heiress and he was a lowly gas station attendant.

We often hear about John Ford working with such stars as John Wayne, Henry Fonda & Maureen O'Hara, among others. One I love that people don't bring up too much is John Ford's frequent collaboration with many character actors. One could call them the John Ford Stock Company. Here's a few that come to mind:

Mildred Natwick - 4

Barry Fitzgerald - 5

Ben Johnson - 7

Jane Darwell - 7

Harry Carey, Jr - 9

Ken Curtis - 11

Victor McLaglen - 12

Ward Bond - 25

And Ford directed Shirley Temple twice-- in WEE WILLIE WINKIE and FORT APACHE. I think he also was the godfather of Temple's daughter with John Agar.

Surprised they haven't teamed up again. All three of their films were hits.

The recent (and still unseen by me) Ithaca (2015) makes for a fourth collaboration between Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. Don't think that one will get classified as a hit.
